Glenview (Illinois), May 30 (IANS) Arjun Atwal shot a fine five-under 67 as he continued his climb into the PGA Tour ranks with another fine first round performance at the Nationwide Tour’s $750,000 Bank of America Open. Atwal is placed tied 10th after the first round Thursday. Atwal, who is now 13th in the race to top-25 for a PGA berth next season, shot seven birdies and two bogeys in his card of 67 that gave him a share of the tenth place after first round.

Atwal was four shots behind Kyle Reifers, who had a stunning round with three eagles. Reifers carded a nine-under 63 which gave him a two-stroke lead over David Lutterus, Keith Nolan, Kris Blanks and Darron Stiles. Reifers eagled fifth, 14 and 18 at The Glen Club.

Atwal started with two birdies on first two holes and a third one on fourth to go three-under. But two bogeys on eighth and ninth meant he turned in one-under.

On the back nine, he birdied the 10th and 11th and added two more on the 14th and 15th to go five-under.
