Miami, Oct 24 (IANS) Arjun Atwal, fresh from his maiden win in the US last week, had an up-and-down day as he fired an eagle, a birdie and four bogeys in his one-over 72 at the Miccosukee Championships, the last full field event on the Nationwide Tour this season.Atwal, now ranked 15th on the Money List and assured of a PGA Tour berth next season, is placed 37th and may well be playing his last event on Nationwide this season, as he goes to Asia to play a series of big money events starting from Shanghai’s HSBC Champions, Singapore Open and Hong Kong Open.
Atwal opened with back-to-back bogeys and then eagled the fifth to turn in even. He birdied the 13th and dropped shots on 14th and 17th.
Chris Nallen and Fran Quinn are co-leaders at 4-under 67 after Thursday’s first round at the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club. Darron Stiles, Scott Gardner, Camilo Benedetti and Daniel Summerhays are tied for third at 3-under 68.
