Atwal among top twenty in Henrico County OpenApril 27th, 2008 - 4:40 pm ICT by admin
Georgia (US), April 27 (IANS) Indian golfer Arjun Atwal strung together one of his best rounds of the year for a six-under 66 that carried him into the 19th place at the end of the third round of the Nationwide Tour’s Henrico County Open. The former Asian Tour No. 1 and the winner of the Malaysian Open on Asian and European Tours this year started on the back nine and had four birdies against no bogeys. He birdied the 10th, 13th, 15th and 18th. He added three more in a row from fourth and sixth to go seven-under. A lone bogey, his only blemish of the day on seventh saw him finish Saturday at six-under.
Atwal, currently ranked 22nd on Nationwide, is trying to stay in top-25 to earn a PGA Tour card for 2009. He is eight-under 208 and six behind the leaders Bryan DeCorso and Matt Hansen who carded six-under-par 66s Saturday. DeCorso and Hansen share the 54-hole lead at The Dominion Club with a total of 14-under 202.
Neal Lancaster, Tom Byrum, Greg Chalmers, Wade Ormsby, Henrik Bjornstad and Bubba Dickerson are tied for third place, two shots off the pace. Five others are another shot back and still within striking distance in the $500,000 event.
