Arrested Azamgarh youths are innocent: Samajwadi PartySeptember 29th, 2008 - 10:38 pm ICT by IANS
Lucknow, Sep 29 (IANS) The Samajwadi Party Monday termed the recent serial bombings in the country as a total failure of intelligence agencies and claimed that all the youth - killed and arrested - from the Sanjarpur village of Azamgarh district were “innocent”.”The youngsters are being framed and killed and the Uttar Pradesh government is also involved in this,” Samajwadi Party’s acting state president Shivpal Singh Yadav alleged.
Yadav visited the Sanjarpur village as member of an 11-member fact-finding delegation of the party and met family members of the terror suspects Monday.
“I also met Dr. Javed whose son has been labelled a terrorist and has gone missing due to the fear of police atrocites,” Shivpal told mediapersons at Azamgarh.
A joint Delhi police and state ATS team last week went looking for Javed’s son and three others, including Arif arrested Monday in Lucknow.
Shivpal also visited the district jail to meet Laiq Ahmed, who was accused of attacking and injuring mediapersons about 10 days ago in the Sanjarpur village.
A group of mediapersons was attacked and even held hostage in the village after the news spread that over a dozen terror suspects belonged to Sanjarpur.
“We will fight for the rights of the residents of this place and stage demonstrations on the road as well as in parliament,” said Shivlal, who is former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s brother.
