Madrid, Feb 29 (IANS/EFE) Spanish police arrested 11 people, two of them minors, as suspects in several brothel robberies in the capital.

The arrested people, all of them Latin Americans, pretended to be customers to get the victims to open the door of the houses whereupon they violently barged in and threatened with guns the women and other people who were there.

After ransacking and robbing everyone in the house, they fled quickly, police said Tuesday.

The investigation was launched last month when police learned about a robbery that occurred in a brothel. After some investigative work, agents determined that they were dealing with an organized criminal group that specialized in violent robberies of houses used as brothels in Madrid.

The assailants carried guns and large knives, had their faces covered and wore gloves so as not to leave fingerprints.

After they barged into the homes, the attackers gagged and bound the hands and feet of the victims with telephone or electric cords.

They then took anything of value that they found inside the houses, including cash, jewelry, cell phones, computers and plasma-screen televisions.

During the robberies, the criminals communicated among themselves using pseudonyms and they call themselves the “Hermanos Latinos”, or Latino Brothers.
