Buenos Aires, Nov 16 (IANS/EFE) An Argentine man has been arrested on charges of raping his daughter for over 10 years and fathering five children by her.

The young woman, now 23 years old, complained to judicial authorities in Santiago del Estero province that her father, whose identity and age were not revealed, had threatened to murder her mother and burn the house down if she ever told he was abusing her, a spokesman said Monday.

She said her father began abusing her when she was 12-years-old at their home in Jume Esquina town, 1,200 km from Buenos Aires.

“One night, my mom went to a school party. I remained alone with my father. When I went to bed, he got into my bed … I asked him to leave and not to bother me. He didn’t care. He raped me,” she told Judge Miguel Moreno.

The judge ordered the man and his daughter to take DNA tests, which found out that five of her seven children - aged 10 months to 10 years - were the offspring of her father.

The woman’s mother divorced her father in 2004 and, since then, the victim has been living under his care.

“I did it out of fear, because he told me he was going to kill my mom,” she said.

The man faces up to 20 years in prison.
