New York, Oct 17 (ANI): The Colorado billboard depicting Barack Obama in negative outfits such as terrorist, gangster, Mexican bandit and a gay man was removed after it was criticized for being racist.
The controversial hoarding drew nationwide protests and was taken-off just days after the sign was erected.
As per the NBC news reports, those who know the owner of the billboard informed that he and his wife were receiving death threats and he decided to withdraw the board as he was receiving harassing calls.
“He got a lot of calls out of his place of business that he said he was fine with. When things got out of hand and people started calling his wife, that’s when he decided to go ahead and take it down,” the New York Daily News quoted Blake Brueggeman, who leases property from sign’s owner, as saying.
The artist, Paul Snover, who was paid 500 dollars for the artwork, also received hate mail and threats.
On the billboard, four cartoonish Obamas are playing poker, surrounded by rats with words written on them such as Trial Lawyer and IRS and the poster is titled as ‘Vote DemocRAT, Join the game’. (ANI)
