ANP leader, son killed in Pakistan
November 7th, 2011 - 4:12 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Nov 7 (IANS) A leader of Pakistan’s Awami National Party (ANP) was killed Monday along with his son and security guard while seven others were injured in a suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
ANP leader Hanif Jadoon was going home after offering Eid prayers when a suicide bomber blew himself up near his car, Geo News quoted a police officer as saying.
The ANP, which rules Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a junior partner in the federal coalition led by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). It also supports PPP-led governments in the Sindh and Balochistan provinces.
The attack occurred in the province’s Malikabad area of Swabi district.
President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned the suicide attack, saying the fact that it occurred on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha reflected the callousness and barbarism of the terrorists.
He vowed that the government would take all necessary measures and utilise all resources to eliminate terrorism from the country.
