Feb 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Its not just the Super Bowl that has hit the headlines. Another major Bowl game will also be played on the same day. This, however, is no game that will see human players, instead cute puppies will be taking over the football field to provide all the excitement and action. The cute puppy bowl will kick off on February 6 and will be aired on Animal Planet at 3 p.m.

This Sunday ardent fans of this super cute Puppy Bowl will see the puppies from various shelters and rescue groups pitted against each other. The concept of the Puppy Bowl appeared for the first time seven years back. According to sources, Andrew Schechter, an Animal Planet producer and a Puppy Bowl veteran who will also act as the referee of the match has divulged that the channel has acquired the puppies from over 30 animal shelters and rescue centers. He also added that one major motive behind the whole game concept was to encourage audience about adoption of the animals who badly need one.

The most interesting part of the Puppy Bowl is that there will be chickens who will be acting in the roles of cheerleaders, No doubt audience will have a fun-filled weekend as they tune in for the game. The game rules, however, remain the same with the pups playing with the soft foam balls. Provision for refreshment has also been made for the puppies who will have access to refreshment during the half-time. It will surely be exciting to watch the cute little pups indulge in their own share of touchdowns, fumbles and interceptions.
