Hyderabad, July 9 (IANS) The Andhra Pradesh government Wednesday announced a house site for the family of V. Venkateswara Rao, the Indian diplomat killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who is away in the Maldives, made the announcement for the family of Rao, who hailed from Rajhamundry in East Godavari district.
Rao, press counsellor in the Indian embassy in Kabul, was among four Indians killed in the attack.
According to a statement from the chief minister’s office, YSR spoke to his principal secretary Jannat Hussain and directed that all assistance be provided to the diplomat’s kin.
Rao, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1990 batch, is survived by wife and two children. His parents live in Rajhamundry.
