Washington, Jan 11 (ANI): Amid an ongoing debate that her depiction of controversial crosshairs symbols on her Facebook page ahead of the mid-term polls last year had led to violence in the country, potential US presidential candidate Sarah Palin addressed the issue through an e-mail to the conservative commentator Glenn Beck, saying “I hate violence”.
Yesterday, the opposition said Palin’s Facebook comment had led to last week’s Tucson massacre in which Democrat Representative Gabrielle Giffords was wounded seriously.
“Sarah, as you know, peace is always the answer. I know you are feeling the same heat, if not much more on this,” Politoco quoted Beck as saying in the mail.
Beck reportedly expressed concern about Palin’s safety, and urged her to hire the same Los Angeles-based security firm that he uses.
Palin replied back that: “I hate violence. I hate war. Our children will not have peace if politicos just capitalize on this to succeed in portraying anyone as inciting terror and violence.”
Giffords, who is in critical condition after being shot in Tucson, had become a target of Palin in the mid-term elections, and had reportedly posted on her Facebook page a U.S. map with crosshairs of a rifle scope over the districts repped by Giffords and 19 other Democrats. (ANI)
