American ’science rapper’ prof is a hit with students!
June 28th, 2010 - 12:57 pm ICT by ANIWellington, June 28 (ANI): Who ever heard of science and rap in the same breath? But an American biology teacher ‘raps’ to teach his students science - and what’s more - they love it.
McFadden, aka The Rhymebosome, is using rap songs to teach students about complex scientific concepts.
The idea took flight after he realized he would need to grab students’ attention to teach them the tough subject.
His first rap was about reproductive isolating mechanisms.
“The first reaction from the students was shock - they were not expecting it,” Stuff.co.nz quoted McFadden as saying.
Now his rapping skills are all over YouTube, New York Times and Britain’s Guardian newspaper.
He will also run a competition to find New Zealand’s first science idol.
“I think young Kiwis possess the right combination of a sense of humour and scientific curiosity to embrace the world of science rapping,” he added. (ANI)
