American museums offering online Hinduism resources
November 13th, 2010 - 5:26 pm ICT by ANINevada (US), Nov 13 (ANI): Various museums and art galleries of USA are providing online resources on Hinduism.These include “Hinduism and Hindu Art”, “Recognizing the Gods”, “Scenes from the Ramayana” and “Krishna” (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York); “Puja”, “Devi”, and “Chola Bronzes from South India” (Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC); “Stories of Krishna” (Seattle Art Museum); “Hinduism” (Ackland Art Museum, Chapel Hill, North Carolina); “Art of India, Himalayas, and Southeast Asia” (The Art Institute of Chicago); “The Legend of Krishna”, “Introduction to Hindu and Buddhist Art” and “Warrior Kings and Divine Jesters” (Asian Art Museum of San Francisco); “The Arts of Kashmir” and “Chola Bronzes” (Asia Society, New York); etc.Applauding these museums and art galleries for providing Hinduism resources, prominent Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that art had a long and rich tradition in Hinduism and ancient Sanskrit literature talked about religious paintings of deities on wood or cloth. Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged other major art museums of the world, including Musee du Louvre and Musee d’Orsay of Paris, Los Angeles Getty Center, Uffizi Gallery of Florence (Italy), Tate Modern of London, Prado Museum of Madrid, National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, etc., to frequently organize Hindu art focused exhibitions, thus sharing the rich Hindu art heritage with the rest of the world.Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
