American dies in Guatemala plane crash
January 11th, 2011 - 12:22 pm ICT by IANSGuatemala City, Jan 11 (IANS/EFE) A US citizen was killed and another seriously injured when a small plane crashed in western Guatemala.Thomas Gilbert Russell, 72, who was piloting the plane, died after the crash that occurred Monday in the town of Santiago Atitlan, 190 km west of Guatemala City, a spokesman for the volunteer firefighters said.
A woman who was in the aircraft with him, identified as 29-year-old US citizen Helen Cernik, suffered serious injuries in the accident.
