American Artists Communicate Their Support For The Israeli Actors, Who Refused To Perform In The Occupied West Bank
September 6th, 2010 - 8:00 pm ICT by Sampurn WireWashington, September 6, 2010 (Just Flashed): An American Jewish organization named Jewish Voice For Peace (JVP) has uttered that more than 150 film and theatrical performers have subscribed to a communication of support for the Israeli actors, who recently turned down an opportunity to deliver renditions at an illegal Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank. The names on this communication of support from the JVP consist of the actress, Vanessa Redgrave, who has triumphed at the Academy Awards; Cynthia Nixon of “Sex and the City’; and playwright Tony Kushner.
A collection of Israeli actors had ignited an impassioned deliberation in Israel in August when they asserted their refusal to release renditions at a fresh theater in the settlement of Ariel. These actors possessed the objective of remonstrating Israeli control of the West Bank.
The actors’ boycott magnetized backing from a cluster of 150 Israeli professors and dozens of authors, counting celebrated writers such as Amos Oz and David Grossman.
The West Bank, it needs to be told, is a territory adjacent to Jordan that has been under the Israeli military occupation since 1967 when the Israelis thrashed three Arabic countries (Egypt, Jordan and Syria) and occupied portions of their respective territories. The West Bank, under Jordanian control since 1948, was conquered by the Israelis in the June War in 1967. Gradually, the Israeli government commenced to construct settlements for religious Jews in the occupied West Bank, which was an act in whole violation of the international laws. The Palestinians, who reside in the West Bank, covet that the West Bank becomes a zone of a prospective self-ruling Palestinian nation.
Today, owing to the illegal colonization of the West Bank, there are thousands of ultranationalistic Jewish settlers there, who are vehemently opposed to the West Bank being conferred to Palestinian ownership since those ultranationalist Jews deem that the West Bank is actually the “Judea and Samaria area’ of the historical “Land of Israel.’
