America Endorses An Inquisition By The U.N. Into Alleged Myanmarese War Crimes
August 19th, 2010 - 1:30 pm ICT by Sampurn WireWashington, August 19, 2010 (Just Flashed): The federal administration of America has privately indicated its endorsement for the implementation of a “U.N. commission of inquiry’. The commission of this U.N. Commission will be an inquisition into the war crimes and felonies against humankind that have been allegedly perpetrated in Myanmar by its junta. This has been revealed by some American bureaucrats.
American bureaucrats have also declared that Barack Obama may augment monetary sanctions against the Myanmarese military regime. The intention behind this is to attempt to compel the military regime to liberalize its stranglehold over the country and to make it discharge its political detainees. This data has been mentioned by The Washington Post.
The Myanmarese junta is headed by Gen. Than Shwe. It is suspected of slaughtering and violating political enemies in the country. Ratification of the commission of inquiry of the U.N. suggests that the Obama government yearns to see justice being delivered in Myanmar fairly and in accordance with global judicial standards.
A senior bureaucrat associated with the federal government of Obama has remarked that this inquiry is not zoomed in on the suffering ordinary Myanmarese. But the goal of such an inquiry directed by the UN will be to probe the notorious Myanmarese military, especially, its chief, Gen. Than Shwe.
Human rights entities have welcomed this development. Tom Malinowski happens to be the director of the Washington division of Human Rights Watch. He has lauded this move and has mentioned that such an inquisition by the UN will destroy the arrogance of the Myanmarese military elite, which continues to deem that their chief’s policy of confronting his populace and the globe is functioning for them personally. Till this arrogance is decimated, they will continue to refuse to accept political conciliation at home and a meaningful rendezvous with America.
In 2009, Obama had mentioned that his administration desired to connect with Myanmarese military hierarchy. President Obama had dispatched high-flying American civil servants to Myanmar. Obama had presented the likelihood of financial assistance to Myanmar. It was hoped that this would defrost the ruthlessness of the Myanmarese military and will ensure the evenhandedness of the forthcoming Myanmarese elections. Myanmar, however, rejected the peaceful overtures of America and enunciated several severe limitations for the November elections.
