Dec 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amanda Knox, the famed convicted killer made an appeal in court recently where she appeared visibly emotional. She reiterated that she did not commit the murder of Meredith Kercher a British student. The 23-year-old woman said that both she and her former boyfriend 26-year-old Raffaele Sollecito were innocent and they have been victimized. The emotionally perturbed American student told the court in Italy’s Perugia that giving her life sentence will not give the murdered British student any justice.
Amanda Knox also told the court that the three years spent by her in prison has broken her spirit. She protested at the way the prosecution has described her during the trial. Last year, Amanda Knox got convicted in the murder and sexual assault of her friend Meredith Kercher although she has always maintained that she is innocent. The American student also said that she has high opinion of Meredith Kercher and always considered her as a dear buddy. The latter hailing from Coulsdon, Surrey was found lifeless on November 2, 2007, in the same house in Umbrian hilltop town where she stayed with Amanda Knox. The throat of the Leeds University student had been slit.
Amanda Knox made a 20 minute long speech addressing the court and the family of the slain British student. When Amanda Knox spoke at the courtroom, her step father and a university friend were present there. Earlier during the trial, Amanda Knox addressed the court but never before she became emotional or passionate in her approach. In USA, the handling of the case has received criticism with some people questioning the way the Italian officials conducted the investigations.
