All actors want to put on a frock: Colin Firth

London, July 3 (IANS) British actor Colin Firth, who stars in “Mamma Mia” and dresses up in spandex and sings ABBA songs, believes all actors want to “put on a frock and mince about”. Thesun.co.uk reports that the actor confessed he even tried to steal a costume.

He said: “That’s why we do this job. Whatever actors tell you about what motivates them, that they want to change the world - we want to put a frock on and mince about! I tried to steal mine, but I was caught leaving Pinewood with it.”

Firth co-stars with Stellan Skarsgard and Pierce Brosnan who play former lovers of Meryl Steep’s character. They all turn up at her daughter’s wedding not knowing who the father is. They all confessed that they were scared to singing and dancing.

Firth added: “I remember turning up on the first day of recording terrified of meeting Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (from ABBA). We were told we had three days to record a three minute song and my mind boggled to how we would fill these days. I could imagine myself in floods of tears while they shook their head and bossed me to do it again. Then I was introduced to Pierce, and I was staring into a vortex of fear and it was the same with Stellan.”
