Ali hopes Paes and Bhupathi can get back on track

March 8th, 2008 - 7:37 pm ICT by admin -

Dubai, March 8 (IANS) Former Davis cupper Zeeshan Ali believes that Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi can put their differences aside and focus on winning a medal for India in the Beijing Olympic Games. “It would be great if they can come together as a team, especially with the Olympics in mind later this year,” Zeeshan was quoted as saying in Gulf News.

“Basically, it is Indian tennis that is suffering in the long run,” their former Davis Cup teammate said.

Zeeshan said Paes and Bhupathi have achieved tremendous success and there was no reason why they can’t get their on-court chemistry back.

“We have two of the greatest doubles players in the world who have the potential to win so much more than they already have done,” Zeeshan said.

“Both of them are such great guys to be with. They should just put all things aside and concentrate on getting their preparations on for the Olympics,” Zeeshan said.

Zeeshan has played with both Paes and Bhupathi during his days with the Indian squad.
