Oct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A mall in Roseville, California was set on fire yesterday by a man named Alexander Piggee. At about 10:30 am, Alexander Piggee entered a video game retail store in the mall and threatened the people, asking them to get out of the store. He then set the merchandise in the retail store on fire. The fire soon spread to other parts of the mall, damaging many retail stores in its wake. Alexander Piggee had barricaded himself in the backroom, from where he was arrested when the law authorities broke in. Alexander Piggee was examined by medical professionals when it appeared that he was suffering from smoke inhalation.
Alexander Piggee is out of danger and so are those who were present in the mall at the time of the incident. Alexander Piggee is also suspected of having a hand in a fire at Walmart in Sacramento County, earlier in the day. Alexander Piggee was taken to Roseville jail at around 1 pm. The damage incurred by the mall is vast. The blaze had reportedly died down by early afternoon, but huge billows of smoke was seen again at around two in the afternoon. Flames could be seen through the roof in the mall, which has collapsed partially.
Meanwhile, Alexander Piggee’s mother said that she was in “shock”. Alexander Piggee had reportedly written on his facebook page, that he had battled with mental illness before. This could explain the incident of him muttering incoherently about his sister being abducted or taken in custody, when he entered the shop. Alexander Piggee was transferred to the Placer County Jail yesterday evening.
