Air New Zealand’s ‘cuddle class’ raises ‘mile high’ concerns
February 1st, 2010 - 3:42 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Wellington, Feb 1(ANI): With the introduction of Skycouch seats, the Air New Zealand crew members have raised concerns about keeping a “closer eye” on passengers who might take advantage of the new lie-down seats.
Dubbed as “cuddle class”, it will allow economy passengers on the new Boeing 777-300 jets to recline along three seats, which are purchased together.
Some crew members are worried about public displays of affection (PDAs) and having to separate couples cuddling too close as they seek membership to the ‘Mile High Club’.
Crew fear that the aircraft’s world-leading new seats and medal-winning wine list may push some couples over the edge.
“Hopefully it will remain a family show,” The NZ Herald quoted a source as saying.
“In terms of PDAs and mile highs it’s nothing new.
“Will it increase people’s urges? … We will probably have to keep a closer eye on things,” the source added.
She admitted that couples are already cuddling up together in the discreet boxed seats of business class.
“You sometimes get people in business sleeping together,” she added.
Passengers have reportedly complained about their mid-flight antics, forcing crew member to tell them to “modify their behaviour”.
“Air New Zealand cabin crew are trained to deal with all issues onboard the aircraft, including amorous couples,” said an Air New Zealand spokeswoman. (ANI)
