Ahmadinejad’s 34-year-old jalopy sold for astonishing 1.5 million quid
March 3rd, 2011 - 4:38 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar. 3 (ANI): Iran President Mohamed Ahmadinejad’s boxy 1970s Peugeot that does 0 to 60 in 12.7 seconds, has been sold for an unbelievable 1.5 million pounds.
A similar 1977 Peugeot 504 would usually go for 1,000 pounds, but a firm wanting to show support for the leader paid the vast sum.
Ahmadinejad auctioned the car online, The Sun and the Xinhua news agency reports.
“My client bought the car because of a personal interest in President Ahmadinejad and his spirit of anti-arrogance,” a lawyer for the anonymous buyers said.
The Iran president used it as his official vehicle, and claimed that he had bids from Europe and the US.
The cash is to be given to charity. (ANI)
