Kabul, Dec 19 (IANS) A major disaster was averted in Afghanistan Monday when two suspected Taliban suicide bombers were killed as their explosive devices went off prematurely before they could reach their intended targets, the government said.
The incident took place in Farah province, around 700 km west of Kabul, Xinhua reported citing an interior ministry statement.
“Two suicide bombers who were attempting to target public interests and kill innocent people in the bazaar of Dilaram district died as their suicide vests exploded prematurely at 8.50 a.m. before reaching the target,” the statement said.
It said there were no casualties in the blast other than the two bombers.
The Taliban were yet to make any comment.
