April 6, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Liza Maza is a Filipino campaigner and grassroots operative. She currently stands for the Gabriela Women’s Party in the 13th Congress of the Philippines.

Rep. Liza Maza insisted on Tuesday that an apology in public be executed by the American radio reviewer, Adam Carolla. The reason for this demand of an apology was related to the racist and prejudiced observations of Carolla against the Philippines and the Filipino populace. These racist remarks had activated outraged responses from the Filipinos that had been placed on the Internet through the media of Facebook and Twitter.

Maza had stated that she would not accept this insult and offensiveness without putting up a fight. She had remarked that Adam Carolla’s racially prejudiced observations are damaging to the self-confidence of the Filipinos. These bigoted observations have damaged the status of the Philippines as a country of meticulous and assiduous people. She had remarked that an instantaneous and earnest public apology is the need of hour.

Carolla, during his podcast, had referred to the Philippines as a nation of prostitutes and sex employees. He had described that the Filipinos do not possess anything to boast about except for Manny Pacquiao and the sexual tales of their country. The comments of Carolla had stated rather tastelessly that the Philippines only had Manny Pacquiao and sexual trips. He had used vulgar expletives to illustrate the Filipinos and its national personality.

Nonetheless, subsequent to encountering an immensely hostile response from the Filipino American community over his chauvinistic comments about the Philippines and the Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, Adam Carolla has taken to his page on Twitter to apologize for the unpleasant incident. He has declared that he apologizes for those statements.

He has tweeted that he does not preplan his commentary. He has tweeted that he endeavors to be entertaining and provocative. He, nonetheless, has tweeted that he crossed the line of acceptability and is sorry.
