Abu Dhabi prince meets Obama

Washington, April 27 (IANS/WAM) The crown prince of Abu Dhabi and US President Barack Obama have pledged to continue their cooperation in areas of security and commerce.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also the deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met Obama at the White House Tuesday, a statement said.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed and Obama discussed the “strong and broad-based relationship that unites the two countries”.
They also discussed the recent developments in the Middle East, including bilateral efforts to improve stability and prevent the spread of extremism in the region.
Sheikh Mohamed also met Defence Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.
The crown prince later attended a dinner hosted by the UAE’s ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba.
Gates, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen, CIA Director Leon Panetta, Commander of US Joint Forces Command Gen. James N. Mattis, White House Chief of Staff William Daley, and National Security Advisor Tom Donilon were also present.
