Copenhagen, Dec 13 (DPA) Danish police apprehended about 100 activists Sunday for holding an unauthorised protest in downtown Copenhagen against a United Nations’ climate change conference.
The demonstrators, described by one policeman as “hardcore” protesters from several European countries, were blocked before they could reach the corporate headquarters of Maersk, the world’s largest shipping company, TV2 news reported.

“Hit the production” was one of their rallying cries. Police said activists caught staging unauthorised protests had been warned in advance that they would face consequences.

Sunday’s clampdown came a day after police arrested nearly 1,000 protesters during a huge demonstration in the Danish capital attended by tens of thousands of people. All but a handful of them had been released by Sunday morning.

Activists said they planned to hold another major protest targeting the Bella Center, the venue of the UN conference, Wednesday.
