A third of UK women wiling to trade a year of life for perfect body
March 31st, 2011 - 2:45 pm ICT by ANILondon, March 31 (ANI): A new UK research has found that a third of women would trade in at least a year of their life to achieve their ideal body shape and weight.
Some said they would even give back 21 years in a bid to be their perfect size and others would sacrifice 5,000 pounds from their annual salary.
The remarkable insight into British women and their bid to lose weight comes as 93 per cent of women confess to having had negative thoughts about their body in the last week.
On average, women said they wanted to lose more than a stone in weight, with only three per cent saying they wanted to gain some.
The survey also found that some 30 per cent would trade at least one year of their life for their perfect shape, with 16 per cent saying they would swap a year, 10 per cent saying they would trade two to five years and two per cent willing to trade six to 10 years.
Another one per cent said they would trade 21 years of their life or more if they could have their perfect body. Women were also willing to swap other things, with 13 per cent saying they would forego 5,000 pounds of an annual salary, eight per cent a promotion at work, six per cent a first in their degree and nine per cent spending time with their partner.
And seven per cent would give up spending time with their family, nine per cent their friends and seven per cent would even give up their health to achieve their ideal shape.
“The survey took place on university campuses around the UK. The findings highlight that body image is an issue for all women and not just adolescent girls, as is often thought, ” the Daily Express quoted lead researcher Phillippa Diedrichs, from UWE, as saying. (ANI)
