Earthquake in Afghanistan

An moderate intensity scale of 4.6 Richter scale shook Afghanistan and the earthquake occurred on Tuesday, October 07, 2008 at 02:52:35 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time ) and Tuesday, October 07, 2008 at 07:22:35 AM at epicenter local time as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter is 95 km (60 miles) S of Khorugh, Tajikistan, 95 km (60 miles) ESE of Feyzabad, Afghanistan, 100 km (60 miles) NNW of Chitral, Pakistan, 320 km (200 miles) SE of DUSHANBE, Tajikistan with the depth of 169.9 km (105.6 miles) and the location 36.680°N, 71.526°E.

On October 6 2008, a strong earthquake jolts central Afghanistan but the Hindu Kush mountainous region, is where the seismic activity is high, is often hit by earthquakes.
