London, Sep 7 (IANS) Britain’s youngest car thief is a seven-year-old boy who needs cushions to sit on so that he can see over the steering wheel when he takes stolen vehicles for a joyride.
Police officials, who are on the look-out for the mystery thief who has eluded them, said they had “intelligence” he is just seven years old.

“We have found stolen cars where the seat is as far forward as it can go and where a cushion is used to make the driver closer to the wheel. The suggestion is that there is a child as young as seven involved,” The Sun Tuesday quoted Oxford’s detective inspector Paul Miller as saying.

He said: “We can have them as young as 11 and 12 in this city. They are being trained by older villains and do a sort of apprenticeship. They start by driving around in a stolen car and then learn how to steal a car themselves.”

“The scary thing is that they don’t know how to drive. It will only be a matter of time before they seriously injure or kill themselves or innocent members of the public.”
