8-year-old in Alabama survives deadly tornado
April 30th, 2011 - 11:54 am ICT by ANIWashington, Apr 30 (ANI): An eight-year-old boy in Alabama has survived after being sucked into tornado.
The incident took place on Wednesday, when howling winds lifted Reginald Jr. off his top bunk bed.
His father explained how he watched his son floating in the air after being sucked into tornado.
“I was reaching up for him, but my hands never made it. The walls crumpled like paper, and he just went with them,” The New York Daily News quoted Reginald’s father, as saying.
“I looked up and saw a silhouette, his little shadowy figure walking back over the debris. It was wonderful. You can’t explain the relief,” he said.
Presently, the boy is in hospital. He suffered from minor injuries on neck and head. But a CT scan was negative and doctors found no internal injuries.
The death toll from Wednesday’s devastating string of tornados rose to 318 on Friday and is expected to climb higher.
The outbreak is now considered the most deadly since 1932, when 332 people lost their lives, all in Alabama. (ANI)
