77,000 kg narcotics seized in Pakistan
January 8th, 2012 - 9:05 am ICT by IANSIslamabad, Jan 8 (IANS) Pakistan’s Anti Narcotics Forces (ANF) said it seized a total of 77,865 kg of narcotics from different parts of the country last year.
Of the contraband items seized, heroin accounted for 1,502.3 kg, opium 7,875 kg, hashish 6,752.42 kg, morphine 961 kg and cocaine 2.5 kg, Xinhua reported citing an ANF statement.
The ANF said it organised a variety of activities, including lectures, seminars, workshops, medical camps, competitions, dramas, photo exhibitions and drug-burning ceremonies to promote a drug-free environment in the country.
