75-Year Old Charged With Murder Over Missing Kathleen GarzaApril 21st, 2009 - 4:10 pm ICT by GD
The Police arrested a 75-year old man on charges of capital murder in the case of a woman who disappeared last week and has not been found yet. Leroy Tellgren was arrested at his Carrollton home at about 7:30 pm, according to Coppell Police Chief Roy Osbourne. According to investigating officers he killed Kathleen Garza, 49, who was his friend from the time they worked together at a school.
The police chief declined to elaborate on possible motives or other details saying, “Unfortunately, this is one of those times that a police chief dreads.”
According to police sources, Garza was seen last at about 9 am on Thursday in the parking lot of the Market Street shopping center located on North Denton Tap Road in Coppell. Her husband Raul revealed that she was supposed to meet Leroy Tellgren for coffee.
He said there was no problem with that because “She saw him as a father figure. I had no reason to believe otherwise.” Later when she did not come home he called Tellgren who told him that he did not know where Kathleen was.
Kathleen Garza left her work at school last May, according to Raul Garza. Over the weekend neighbors came together with the family and their friends to post fliers around Coppell and other nearby areas seeking information about the missing woman. Raul Garza said, “We still want to find Kathy. It blows my mind why anybody would hurt her.”
The police have released a phone number where anyone with any information about the case may contact the authorities.
