64pc of Aussies participate in sports, other physical activity
February 4th, 2011 - 6:24 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Feb 4 (ANI): A new study has found that nearly two-thirds of Australians aged 15 and over engage in sports or some form of physical recreation.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics study says 11.1 million people took part in a sports or other physical activity in a recent 12-month period.
Teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, had the highest participation rate at 79 per cent, reports News.com.au.
However, sports activity tended to decrease with age.
Participation in sport was highest in the ACT with 77 per cent of people taking part. (ANI)
