6.4-magnitude quake off Japan’s Ryukyu Islands
May 26th, 2010 - 5:14 pm ICT by IANSHong Kong, May 26 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck near the Ryukyu Islands near Japan at 0853 GMT Wednesday, but there was no report of any casualty, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicentre, at a depth of 10 km under the sea surface, was monitored at 25.851 degrees north latitude and 129.90 degrees east longitude. It was about 226 km east of Naha on the Okinawa Island, Xinhua reported.
