6.2 earthquake shakes Indonesia
March 26th, 2010 - 7:11 pm ICT by IANSJakarta, March 26 (DPA) A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the eastern Indonesian islands in Maluku province Friday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, meteorologists said.
The quake took place at a depth of 112 kilometres and was located about 205 kilometres north-west of the remote Saumlaki district. It occurred at 5:39 p.m. Jakarta time (1039 GMT), the Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.
It was the latest in a series of earthquakes to rock Indonesia in recent weeks.
