6,000 evacuated after China chemical plant blast
November 25th, 2011 - 12:28 am ICT by IANSBeijing, Nov 24 (IANS) About 6,000 residents were evacuated in China’s Guangzhou city following an explosion at a chemical plant.
The accident occurred in the afternoon at the No. 6 Warehouse, a storage facility for oxidant, at the Futian Chemical Company in Panyu district, Xinhua quoted the district government as stating.
The situation could be brought under control after 90 firefighters and 15 firetenders were engaged to tackle incident.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
