60-minutes July 12, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): About half of the people who were victims of the tragic Haiti incident were children, as has been reported recently. 50% of them were minors, all under the age of 18. Around half a million kids are dwelling on the streets or in overcrowded orphanages. Some of them are also forced to stay in make-shifts camping arrangements. Several thousand of these children have also been severed off from their families. They are constantly under the threat of hunger, sickness, sexual abuse and even modern day slavery.

The ‘lost children of Haiti’ are therefore under extreme conditions and with every passing day are nearing the brink of extinction so to speak. Something needs to be done for them else humanity would be blackened. The Global Orphan Project, an US based charity center has been trying to do something for the kids. A situation of emergency is still on and the rescue workers are racing against time to save the children; the question now is, how many kids need to be rescued and how?

Awareness about this sensitive issue needs to be spread and is being done by 60 Minutes. They ran a special description regarding the children who were the victims of Haiti earthquake. Such campaigns needs to be encouraged more and more, since this is the only way by which the public knowledge and awareness can be increased. The “Lost Children of Haiti” have to be rescued from the poor condition they are forced to be in.

The GOP or the Global Orphan Project and their partners The Crazy Love Campaign are doing their best for these children. Here’s wishing them luck.
