6.0 earthquake strikes off northern California
February 5th, 2010 - 5:25 pm ICT by ANISacremento (California), Feb.5 (ANI): A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern California Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake hit at 12:20 p.m. PT and its epicenter was 47 miles west-southwest of Eureka, California, the USGS reported.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, Sacramento television station KTXL said.
The earthquake was strong enough to be felt some 275 miles away in San Francisco, residents said.
Northern California was hit by two major earthquakes in 1992 and 2005, both of which measured 7.2. (ANI)
