6 more arrested in Geeta Aulakh murder case, husband gets bail
November 19th, 2009 - 10:39 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )London, Nov 19 (IANS) Police arrested six more men from a house in west London Thursday in connection with the murder of an Indian-origin woman who was found dying on the street with her hand chopped off.
The arrests were made at an address in Ealing, following the death of Geeta Aulakh, a 28-year-old mother of two, from head wounds in hospital Monday.
She was found lying in a pool of blood in Greenford, also in west London, with her right hand severed from the arm.
Six other men who were arrested earlier, including Geeta’s estranged husband Harpreet Aulakh, were released on bail Thursday, a spokesman for London Metropolitan Police said.
Geeta, a receptionist at Britain’s largest Asian radio station Sunrise Radio, is believed to have been attacked shortly after leaving work to pick up her two young children Monday evening.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers said: “When the victim was found we know that a lot of people were in the street and that several people may have tried to administer first aid before the police or ambulance arrived.”
“These people left the scene before speaking to police and I would ask that anyone who was there, or anyone else who has information about the incident, call us in the strictest of confidence.”
Anyone with information has been asked to call the London incident room on 020 8358 0200 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
