520 kg cocaine found near Panama Canal
September 20th, 2010 - 11:26 am ICT by IANSPanama City, Sep 20 (IANS/EFE) Over 520 kg of cocaine was found inside an abandoned vehicle on the banks of the Panama Canal, officials said.
The vehicle was abandoned a short distance from the Bridge of the Americas, the National Police said Sunday.
The occupants apparently abandoned the vehicle when they spotted a police checkpoint on the approach to the bridge.
The narcotics were dredged up from the canal and were deposited close to the Bridge of the Americas, police said.
