50 mn home appliances sold in China’s countryside
July 7th, 2011 - 6:17 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, July 7 (IANS) Over 50 million home appliances were sold in China’s countryside in the first half of 2011, the authorities said.
It took place under a policy to promote the sales of appliances in rural areas, the commerce ministry said.
The total trade volume amounted to nearly 124.6 billion yuan.
The number sold and the total trade volume saw year-on-year increases of 56.7 percent and 83.7 percent, respectively, the People’s Daily reported.
Refrigerators, televisions and air conditioners were the most in demand.
