5.0 magnitude earthquake hits Bougainville, Papua New Guinea

A moderate earthquake magnitude 5.0 Richter scale hit in Bougainville,Papua New Guinea on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 04:51:54 UTC ( Coordinated Universal Time) and Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:51:54 AM at epicenter local time as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter is 140 km (85 miles) SW of Arawa, Bougainville, PNG, 210 km (130 miles) WSW of Chirovanga, Choiseul, Solomon Islands, 870 km (540 miles) ENE of PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea, 2250 km (1390 miles) N of BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia with the depth of 105.5 km (65.6 miles).

Last Thursday, an earthquake magnitude 5.0 Richter scale hit in New Ireland,Papua New Guinea.
