50 drown in Comoros boat accident
August 9th, 2011 - 10:42 pm ICT by IANSMoroni (Comoros), Aug 9 (IANS) At least 50 people have drowned when an overcrowded boat capsized off the Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean, Xinhua reported Tuesday.
The accident occurred Monday. Search for bodies continued Tuesday, the Red Cross said. The boat was carrying 93 people but some of them have survived.
Bad weather and overloading were blamed for the accident. The survivors were rushed to hospitals on the Comoros.
