5 mutilated bodies found on Mexican highway
February 8th, 2011 - 11:28 am ICT by IANSMonterrey (Mexico), Feb 8 (IANS/EFE) The police found five mutilated bodies over the weekend on a highway in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon along with a message from a drug cartel, an official said.State Investigations Agency, or AEI, officers discovered the bodies on the Monterrey-Reynosa highway near the city of Los Ramones, a Nuevo Leon Security Council official told EFE.
The bodies were left on the side of the highway at kilometer 69 along with the message, whose contents have not been made public, the official said.
Earlier, the decapitated bodies of five men were found Jan 17 in the plaza of Montemorelos, a town located about 90 km south of Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo Leon.
The bodies were mutilated and a message from the Gulf cartel claiming responsibility for the killings was found at the crime scene.
Around 15 mutilated bodies have been found this year in Nuevo Leon.
Army troops found the partially burned bodies of six men on a highway outside Monterrey Jan 30.
The bodies were found on the Monterrey-Colombia highway in Escobedo, a city in the Monterrey metropolitan area.
