41 die in China bus fire
July 22nd, 2011 - 6:35 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, July 22 (IANS) Forty-one people died and six were injured after an overcrowded bus caught fire early Friday in central China, a media report said.
The 35-seater double-decker sleeper bus was carrying 47 passengers when it was engulfed in flames at 4 a.m. on the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, China Daily reported.
The accident occurred in Xinyang city of Henan province.
The cause of the blaze is still being investigated, said Zhang Guohui, head of the Henan provincial work safety administration.
The body remains were burned beyond recognition and the deceased will have to be identified by DNA testing, police officers said.
Of the six injured, one was in critical condition in hospital, said the Xinyang municipal police.
