Sharjah, June 24 (IANS) As part of a drive against illegal migrant workers into the United Arab Emirates (UAE), authorities here have arrested 382 people, WAM news agency reported Tuesday. Abdullah Ali bin Sahoo, director of the Department of Naturalisation and Residency, said the immigrants have been arrested for violating the country’s entry and residency laws.
Sahoo said the department would “continue the inspection campaign to bring violators to book”.
He warned that the institutions and individuals who employ and provide shelter to illegal migrant workers would face legal charges. The arrests were made over a month from May 20, he said.
