36 killed in Baghdad suicide bombing
July 18th, 2010 - 3:16 pm ICT by IANSBaghdad, July 18 (DPA) At least 36 people were killed and 28 injured in a suicide bombing targeting security personnel in southwestern Baghdad on Sunday, a security source said.
The bomber, who was wearing an explosive belt, targeted members of the Sahwa, who were gathered to collect their salaries in the Sunni-dominated area of al-Radwaniya.
The Sahwa, or Awakening Councils, are made up of former Sunni insurgents who have been supporting the government in its fight against al-Qaeda and helping restore order in the country.
