Beijing, Aug 18 (IANS) A large proportion of Chinese students who go abroad to pursue their studies choose to stay back with only about 30 percent returning home, a media report here said.

Data collected over 31 years — from 1978 to 2009 — revealed that roughly 30 percent Chinese returned home after studying abroad, reported China Daily citing the Nanfang Daily.

About 1.62 million Chinese students went to study abroad during the period 1978-2009 and only 497,400 have come back.

Another trend is of more and more wealthy people from China moving abroad, the report said.
