30 Malaysian kids held hostage rescued (Lead)
July 7th, 2011 - 4:54 pm ICT by IANSKuala Lumpur, July 7 (IANS) Police in Malaysia gunned down a man who held 30 kindergarten children and four teachers hostage for seven hours Thursday in Johor state, Xinhua reported.
The man, said to be mentally deranged, had earlier trespassed into the kindergarten with a knife and a hammer. He threatened to kill the children.
He was critically injured after the police shot him in the head.
All the children, aged between two and six, and the teachers were rescued unscathed.
