3 Indians attacked by racist mob in Australia
September 15th, 2009 - 5:58 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Melbourne, Sep 15 (IANS) Three Indians were brutally assaulted in a suburb in this Australian city by a group of youths who allegedly made racist remarks.
Omkar Singh, a relative of the victims, told IBN news channel Tuesday that the attack took place when his relatives were playing pool in Epping.
He said that there were lots of guys and they told the victims to go back to India.
Sukhdip Singh, his brother Gurdeep Singh and uncle Mukhtair Singh were targeted by the group. Sukhdip reportedly had his nose and jaw broken, and is now unable to eat any solid food.
There has been a string of attacks on Indian students in Australia since May this year, causing an uproar in India. Canberra has given repeated assurances to New Delhi that it would do its best to stop the attacks.
